Lakewood Community Development Corporation

Founded 1993

A New York State non-profit, 501(c) (3) corporation

Our Mission

The purpose of the Lakewood Community Development Corporation is to plan, promote, coordinate, and/or execute programs to improve the quality of life in the community by promoting the rehabilitation and development of residential, commercial, and recreational facilities, with primary emphasis on the historic downtown area of the Village of Lakewood, New York.

Our Past

In 2004 the Chautauqua Avenue Renewal Project was completed. It included a Main Street Master Plan and major improvements such as underground utilities, new street lights, new curbing and sidewalks, tree plantings, the creation of Lakewood’s iconic clock tower and Recognition Park. The 2.2 million dollar project was funded by local individuals, businesses, and foundations as well as the Town of Busti and the Village of Lakewood.

Our Future

Today, the LCDC is concentrating on creating a new master concept that builds upon the foundation established by the original Master Plan and Renewal Project, by not only identifying key areas for potential improvement and development, but also acting as facilitators to ensure success. The goal is to fully realize the Village’s potential as a sustainable, vibrant, and prosperous community.

Board of Directors

Currently, the Lakewood Community Development Corporation is managed by a nine (9) member Board of Directors, all residents of the Village of Lakewood.
